Freinet methodology for reactivating planning skills in people with dementia. Application of libertarian democratic pedagogy in gerontology

This article documents the methodological process of reactivating the capacity to desire in people with mild dementia, through the application of pedagogical devices inspired by the libertarian pedagogy of Célestin Freinet in the “Centri Sollievo” of Montegrotto and Abano Terme (Veneto). Through this methodology, the aim is to challenge a fundamental point of gerontological educational practice: how to bring out desires in people who have internalized the impossibility of desiring.
